2008 Holy Cross Crusaders Junior Football Players
Tom Lacaria ~ LB/FB ~ 5'10'' 185 ~ Lacaria returns as a starter from his Middle Linebacker position where he recorded 35 tackles (12 solo) and also 2.5 sacks in '07. Offensively, Lacaria will look to start at the FB position where he played in 2007. Lacaria rushed for 136 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown in '07. Tom was an All-City Honorable Mention selection last season as well. ACADEMIC: Enrolled in a mix of Honors and CP Courses and has a 91.23 GPA.
Patrick Cronin ~ RB ~ 5'10'' 145 ~ Cronin will start at the RB position this fall for the Crusaders. Cronin had a very successful JV season in 2007 and solidified his starting role at tailback on Thanksgiving Day where he rushed for 135 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown. Cronin averaged 6.11 yards per carry and was the second leading rusher overall last season. ACADEMIC: Enrolled entirely in CP Courses
Ryan Plourde ~ QB ~ 6'0'' 175 ~ Plourde will get the nod at the Quarterback position to start the season. Plourde saw limited time at the Varsity level in '07 but had a very good Junior Varsity season where he threw for 12 touchdowns and over 700 yards while rushing for three touchdowns as well. Plourde may also play some Linebacker on the Defensive side of the ball. ACADEMIC: Enrolled in CP Courses and has a 84.00 GPA
Ryan Kindulas ~ RT ~ 6'2'' 245 ~ Kindulas will compete for the Right Tackle position on Offense this fall. Ryan has a had a very successful Off-Season with the Strength & Conditioning Program and that has earned him the top spot on the depth chart going into the Pre-Season. Kindulas had a very good Junior Varsity season as a Sophomore and will help fill the void on the Crusaders front line. ACADEMIC: Has maintained First Honors since Freshmen year and is enrolled in completely Honors classes. Kindulas has a GPA of 97.83. Mike Lynch ~ RG/LB ~ 5'11'' 220 ~ Lynch will return as a starter at the Right Guard position and also vye for time at Linebacker this season. Lynch had a very successful season as a Sophomore where he excelled helping the Crusaders rush for over 1600 yards. ACADEMIC: Lynch has maintained First Honors throughout High School thus far. He is enrolled in a mix of Honors and CP Courses and has a 92.92 GPA.
Tanner Young ~ LG ~ 6'1'' 225 ~ Young will return as a starter this fall but at the Left Guard position rather than Center where he played in '07. Young has been a member of the Varsity squad since his freshmen year, where he played the final five games as a backup. Young has shown the mobility to move to the Guard position and will also compete for time as a Defensive Tackle. ACADEMIC: Young has been an Honor Roll student since his freshmen year, he is enrolled in a mix of Honors and CP Courses and has a GPA of 88.15
Ryan Kalnins ~ TE/DE ~ 6'0'' 175 ~ Kalnins will compete for the Tight End position on Offense as well as the Defensive End position this Pre-Season. Kalnins played both positions successfully at the Junior Varsity level in '07 and saw valuable Varsity time as well. Kalnins has been a member of the Varsity Squad since his Freshmen year as a backup QB, but made the transition to TE and is one of the Crusaders best blockers. ACADEMIC: Has maintained First Honors since Freshmen year. Kalnins is enrolled in a mix of Honors and CP Courses and has a 92.50 GPA
Gregory Warner ~ WR/SS ~ 5'11'' 145 ~ Warner will start at the WR position for the Crusaders this fall after completing a very good Junior Varsity season. Warner will also compete for a spot in the Crusader Secondary on the Defensive side of the ball. Warner is also a Track & Field star as he has held the Indoor Track & Field High Jump record, and was also third in points during the 2007 Track Season and awarded Most Dedicated as well. ACADEMIC: Warner has maintained Honor Roll Status throughout High School and is enrolled in a mix of Honors and CP Courses with a 89.17 GPA
Stephan Coney ~ CB/WR ~ 5'9'' 122 ~ Coney will return as a starter on Defense at the Cornerback position. Coney started the final few games during the '07 campaign and recorded 12 tackles (4 solo) and 1.5 sacks from that spot. A hard-hitting corner, Coney has been an integral part of the Crusaders Cover II Defense in defending the run. Coney will also look to get some time as a receiver on Offense. ACADEMIC: Has maintained Second Honors since his transfer from Crosby High School after his Freshmen year. Coney is enrolled entirely in CP Courses and has a GPA of 84.20
Brian Kalosky ~ DE/TE ~ 6'1'' 185 ~ Kalosky will compete for the Tight End position on Offense and the Defensive End position. Kalosky had a successful Junior Varsity season at Tight End in '07 primarily used for his blocking skills. Kalosky has had a very good Off-Season in the weightroom and on the track, putting him in contention for the spots mentioned. ACADEMIC: Kalosky has maintained Second Honors throughout High School while being enrolled in a mix of Honors and CP Courses. Brian has a GPA of 88.33
Chris Griffin ~ LG ~ 5'8'' 215 ~ Griffin will look to earn time at his Left Guard position this fall. Griffin was a Junior Varsity player in 2007 and improved tremendously from his freshmen season. Chris has had a very good Off-Season program and should help in improve even more for the '08 campaign. ACADEMIC: Enrolled in entirely CP Courses.
Dave Milite ~ DE/OG ~ 5'10'' 190 ~ Milite will compete for the Defensive End position and Offensive Guard position this fall. Milite started all 8 Junior Varsity games last season on Offense and imporved tremendously, which will help him for the '08 campaign. Milite is also a stand-out Wrestler for the Crusaders as he qualified for the states in the 189 weight class as a sophomore. ACADEMIC: Milite is enrolled in entirely CP Courses.
Joseph Giannelli ~ RB/DB ~ 5'9'' 160 ~ Giannelli will compete for a chance at Running Back and Defensive Back after sustaining a season ending injury last season. Giannelli recorded 3 interceptions in three games that he played in last season at the Junior Varsity level as well as some quality carries on Offense. ACADEMIC: Giannelli has maintained Second Honors throughout High School and is enrolled in a mix of Honors and CP Courses with an 85.77 GPA
Taylor Birtwistle ~ C/DT ~ 6'0'' 170 ~ Birtwistle will get the nod at Center this fall for the Crusaders after having a successful Junior Varsity and Off-Season in the weightroom. Birtwistle helped the Crusader JVs to a 6-2 record last fall as well as being a backup on Offense at the Center spot. Birtwistle placed third in the NVL weightlifting competition this past winter in the Heavyweight division. ACADEMIC: Taylor is enrolled in entirely CP Courses and has a GPA of 82.69. COLLEGE INTERESTS: Quinnipiac University, University of Notre Dame, University of Connecticut, Clemson University
Brandon Monti ~ LB/OG ~ 5'10'' 180 ~ Monti will compete for the Linebacker postion on Defense and also the Guard position on the Offensive Line this fall. Monti has had a successful Off-Season in the Weightroom in preparation for this season. Monti had a very good Junior Varsity season at the Linebacker position for the Crusaders last fall. ACADEMIC: Enrolled in entirely CP Courses.
Bryan Farley ~ WR/S ~ 5'11'' 145 ~ Farley will compete for a spot at Receiver in '08 after starting half of the season at the position during the '07 Junior Varsity season. Farley has had very good Off-Season work ethic, which should help him during the Pre-Season. ACADEMIC: Farley is enrolled entirely in CP Classes. Jacob Szyndlar ~ WR/DB ~ Szyndlar returns for the 2008 season after having a successful freshmen season in 2006. Szyndlar missed last season and will return to compete for a receiver spot on Offense and also Defensive Back. ACADEMIC: Jacob is enrolled in entirely CP Courses.
Marshal Szyndlar ~ WR ~ Marshal also returns after missing the 2007 season and will compete for a Wide Receiver spot. Marshal was a standout receiver during his freshmen campaign in 2006. ACADEMIC: Enrolled entirely in CP Courses.
Daniel Huggins-Penn ~ DT ~ 6'0'' 275 ~ Huggins will return to his Defensive Tackle position where he started last season. Huggins had a solid Sophomore season where he recorded 12 tackles (4 solo). ACADEMIC: Huggins is enrolled in entirely CP Courses.
